Our Lady of Pimen |
---|
The Russian chronicles first refer to the icon known as Our Lady of Pimen in entry for 1404-07. The icon owes its name to Metropolitan Pimen, who visited Constantinople in 1381 and 1388. The manuscript collection (1714-16) includes a detailed story of the icon. Among the miracles the collection also mentions that the head of Our Lady of Pimen had exuded holy oil. Represents the iconographic type of Hodegitria. End of 14th C., Byzantium |
