Our Lady of Lyubyatovo :: According to oral monastic tradition, the icon saved Pskov from Ivan the Terrible's punitive expedition in 1570. The icon is commemorated on March 19. Instance of a rare iconography of Tenderness, this icon combines the traditional motif of mother's caress with the gesture of the Child touching the Virgin's chin with the right hand.
